Your name is awesome, is it actually Tullius or is that just a badass nickname?
Yes, Marcus Tullius Heuer de Carvalho is my name. I don’t know what the history behind it is, but i like it!
Where in Brazil do you live?
Maceió – Alagoas, it’s a small city. It’s good to live here, but the violence is getting intense.
Your Deviantart page and the speed-art videos you have put together are so rad! How long did “When Birds Refuse to Fly” take you?
I think it took something like 8~9 hours of work...Not in a row because I always take breaks. Sometimes I finish it in more than 1 day, so I’m counting just the working hours.
You can almost feel the powerful feminine energy coming off of the page and into life. What type of message are you trying to convey?
I always try to express what I am (not a woman, of course), but in general way I think that women are more emotional and I feel it strongly inside of me. My latest works have strong emotional messages. Sometimes I try to express internal feelings or sometimes show my point of view. My art is absolutely what I am, I think people can know me deeply by my art.
What is a typical day like for you?
A day where nothing happens…is when I have intense introspective moments.
Does art help you deal with the struggles of life?
Absolutely, we all need an escape to dribble problems, I think there’s nothing better than art!
Do you believe there is a deeper meaning to life and what meets the eye? Does this appear in your work if so?
I think to find a meaning for life isn’t an easy thing and I really don’t think you have just ONE special meaning to seek during your whole life. This is a constant that changes every day, we are changing every second. Of course I always think about that in my works, especially when I deal with creative blocks.

Why do you often choose females?
I’m a very emotional person, for me women are the best representation of emotions and I feel comfortable to work with their expressions, it’s easier to find what I need.
You seem to combine elements of nature into all of your pieces, especially birds and leaves and such…Is getting into nature important for you?
Yes, everything in the world has an abstract meaning. You don’t need to know occult or symbols to use elements with specific meanings. I usually make a quick search about them, but I always change the initial meanings to my own thoughts. Nature is full of amazing living things and even the non-living things have a strong impact in art.
What type of projects have you done for commission before?
I used to work with visual design for e-Sports teams, casters and championships, but i’ve started searching for artistic commissions this year, so I have done 2 cd covers I think, that’s all for now.
Have a favorite band or musician at the moment?
My favorite band is Called Rhapsody (both of them, Luca Turilli’s Rhapsody and Rhapsody of fire, they split up friendly). But I’m listening to a lot of Leprous now, they’re amazing and very inspirational.
What do you think about most often?
Life and relationships.
What brightens your spirit and makes you smile? Have a favorite joke or comedian?
Honestly, it can be very cliché, but I feel very happy to see people happy, it always fills my soul with joy.
I’m a big fan of a guy that makes pranks here in Brazil, his name is John Leitão. He makes the most lovely pranks I have ever seen, it’s impossible to be angry with him, hehe!
